Psychotherapy for Oxford students, researchers and staff
A therapeutic perspective shaped by experience as a former Oxford student, junior dean and academic.
I offer relational psychodynamic psychotherapy in Oxford and online, including longer-term work.
My practice welcomes students, researchers and University staff seeking space to explore personal difficulties, relationships and recurring patterns in their lives. What brings you to therapy may be connected with university life, or may have little to do with it.

My background

I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, senior accredited with the BACP, and a chartered psychologist with a research background. In my Oxford private practice, I work with students, University staff and members of the wider community.
I have experienced Oxford University as a student, a junior dean and a member of academic staff. These different roles have given me an understanding of academic and collegiate life, its opportunities and its pressures.
This familiarity informs my work, while leaving room for your experience to be different from mine. My practice is independent of the University and its colleges.
My approach

Relational psychodynamic therapy offers an opportunity to understand yourself through exploring your feelings, experiences and relationships.
Together, we can consider how earlier experiences may shape your present life, including patterns that recur despite your efforts to change them. We also pay attention to what emerges between us in therapy, which can help bring less familiar feelings and expectations into view.
You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong. We can begin with what feels difficult, uncertain or important to you.
I offer the possibility of ongoing work, allowing time for understanding and change to develop. We would discuss together whether this approach feels appropriate for you.
Sessions and fees

I offer appointments in Oxford and online.
My standard fee is £70 per session. Concessionary appointments at £55 per session may be available by arrangement, particularly online. Please ask about availability and the terms of a concession when you enquire.
If your college or another organisation may be funding your therapy, please mention this when making contact so that we can discuss the arrangements.
Getting started

You are welcome to contact me to ask about availability or arrange an initial appointment.
The first appointment is an opportunity to explore what brings you to therapy, ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.
For an initial enquiry, a brief message and an indication of your availability are enough.
